Access to Flores
There is no international flight to reach Flores, however, there are many flights to this island from big cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta and Bali. If you’re looking for the cheapest option, then fly to Bali and then catch a flight to Flores or Labuan Bajo. This flight costs around $55 and will take around 1 hour. If you happen to fly from Jakarta to Kupang, you can then continue your flight using a local airline to Flores.
After arriving at Flores, it is recommended to rent a private car. Therefore, you can stop by many places at once and enjoy your time at Flores.

1. Wae Rabo
If you want to see both natural beauty and learn some local culture, then come to Wae Rabo village. To reach this village, people must hike through a dense forest. The hike is a bit challenging, however, you’ll get a great experience by seeing the traditional huts and seeing the clear blue sky at night. To get this experience, make sure to stay a night in this village.
2. Rangko Cave
For those looking for a unique experience, try swimming in Rangko Cave. This is a secret cave in Flores that offers beauty beyond your expectations. The stalagmites and stalactites around the cage are just unique making it look like magic. If you want the best view, try staying until noon to see the sunlight view that enters the cave’s mouth.
3. Cunca Rami Waterfall
The next nature spot that you must visit is the Cunca Rami Waterfall. The waterfall itself is in the Mbeliling forest of Flores. To reach the waterfall, visitors must trek the trail which is not too hard. After having a fun time at the waterfall, people can enjoy their time in the small villages around.
4. Diving at Batu Bolong
If you have a driving license, then make sure to dive Batu Bolong. This spot is a world-class dive site where you can see rare whitetip reef sharks and colorful fishes! There are also colorful corals inside the sea that will complete your experience.
Entrance Fee & Time to Visit
There is no entrance fee for most of the attraction spots. However, if you want to dive, or stay a night in the village, there will be some extra costs that you’ll have to pay.
As most of these gems are still unknown, the island is far from the crowd. Therefore, you can come to Flores Island any time of the year. However, if you want to come to the island at the best price, try coming from August to November.
