If you happened in Bali but got tired of its slowly growing popularity, then how about heading somewhere more remote? Yes, you can come to Nusa Lembongan, a small island in Badung Strait, just off the mainland of Bali on its southeast side.
This island is one of the Three Nusa of Bali, Nusa Penida, Ceningan, and Lembongan. The three islands are the famous gateway where you can still feel the remoteness of Bali. Not to mention, in Lembongan, you can get white sand almost all around.
What to Do There
Since Nusa Lembongan is only a small island, then all you can do there will be related to water. But do not get the wrong idea that it will be the mainstream water attraction because this island offers something beyond your imagination. Here they are:
1. Witnessing the Devil’s Tear
If you happened to be an adrenaline junky, then you should not pass on this opportunity. Although you should not get close to the cliff, you will still feel the thrill. Because the Devil’s Tear is where the waves crash into the cliff powerfully. At the impact, the water can reach meters high with no sweat. Therefore, make sure to keep a safe distance if you visit this spot.
2. Cross the Yellow Bridge to Nusa Ceningan
Since it is located close and only a small distance, Lembongan and Ceningan are connected by a bridge. The bridge was painted yellow, so it is famous as Yellow Bridge. Furthermore, the bridge is rather small, only able to accommodate two motorbikes crossing one another. But since it is a close distance, you can also take a walk to get through.
3. Take the Mangrove Boat Tour
If you are more into the serene scene for a break from the city life, then we suggest you take a boat tour to the mangrove forest in Lembongan. You can either take the paddle boat or small boat, then head to the northeast side of Lembongan through the river. Then, simply enjoy the clear water and the calmness of your surroundings.
4. Get a Surfing Lesson at Coconut Beach
It is never too late to learn surfing, and as long as you still have 100% control of your limbs, then you are good to go. To surf, you do not have to be a pro yet. Because when you come to Lembongan, there is a place that offers you to learn how to surf at Coconut Beach.
How to Get There and How Much It Cost
To get to this small island, you can head from almost any port in Bali. But the closest ones are from Sanur Beach and Serangan Port. Not to mention, from these ports, there are fast boats to Lembongan every day.
If you wish for the fastest way, then you should get the fast boat from Sanur Beach. But if you wish to enjoy the journey, then it would be best to get there from Serangan Port. Meanwhile, the destination ports in Lembongan are Jungut Batu and Teluk Jamur Port.
Then for the transport cost, it will be 20 thousand rupiahs for fast boats in one way. Then, you should also consider renting a bike to get around the island if you do not feel like walking.
Nusa Lembongan has a unique charm that is hard to resist. Although the island is across the Bali mainland, there are still tourist facilities around. Thus, you do not have to feel lost and will get the natural side of Bali and its modernity at the same time.
