If you’re planning to visit Bali, then make sure to put Kelingking Beach Nusa Penida in your itinerary. This is one of the main attractions on the island that will give you the beach, beautiful view, and some sun. However, reaching this beach can be quite challenging, so make sure to come prepared.
Getting to Kelingking Beach Nusa Penida
Kelinking Beach is can be found in the Village of Mekar which is located on the west coast of Nusa Penida Island. Therefore, to reach this beach people will have to cross the island from Bali. People can reach Nusa Penida Island using a speedboat that is available every day from 7 am to 4 pm. The tickets to cross the island cost Rp 150.000 for local people and Rp 200.000 for foreigners.
After arriving at Nusa Penida Island, ride a bike or a car to the beach. To get the best experience, it is best to ride a bike. Once you reach the spot, you can see the beach from a top view. You can enjoy the beach from above and see the beautiful view or step down to play with the sand and sea,
If you choose to go down to the beach, then please note that the path is not easy and not totally secured. The first steps of the path are also quite steep, so make sure to be careful. Overall, to get down, people will need around 40-60 minutes. It is recommended that you use comfortable footwears if you decide to go to the beach.
What to Expect & Best Spots to Take Pictures
When you reach Kelingking Beach viewpoint, you will see cliffs that form the shape of a T-rex. The head can bee seen on the left side of the beach, where as the body and tail are wrapped around the right side.
Even though the beach is normally crowded with people, there are multiple spots around the edge of the cliffs that will give a great view. If you want the best spots to capture some pictures, try coming to these area:
1. Concrete Platform
This spot is located right before you begin the trek down. Before the trek, you will see a flat piece of concrete, where you can sit down and take a photo. From this point, you can capture the whole beach and its crystal water. However, make sure to be careful while you wait because normally there will be a lot of people waiting in line.
2. The Stairway
If you’re brave enough to trek down, then take a picture on the stairway. The view from this spot is also beautiful because you can see the beach closer and better. Just make sure to snap the picture quickly, as many people are also using the stairway.
3. Behind the Cafes
One of the great spots that not many people notice is behind the cafes. If you follow the path, it will lead you up to the hills where you can also get a great view of the beach. The best part is, not many people know this spot, so you can stay and rest for a while without having to hurry up.
Operating Hours & Entrance Fee
Technically, there is no operating hours to enter Kelingking Beach. However, it is best not to come in the afternoon as it can get dark. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the beach without much crowd, then it is best to come early in the morning. As for the entrance fee, people will have to pay around Rp 10.000 which also includes the parking for the area.
